Session 11

It's a beautiful day outside. Spring is here. Enjoying the class but looking forward to having my evenings back.

I love Publisher. I've used it with students before. I continue to use it often for various purposes. I even created my lease with it.

I'm not much of a bookmarker but I will probably be more apt to bookmark with del.icio.us. I do bookmark more at home because I only work on that one computer.

I am working with Wendy on our project. I think it's nice to work in a team bouncing ideas off of each other. I find I'm a really organized person and work well when I have a plan. This process is wonderful. I'm still not sure if we are on the right track so... when we share our projects, gentle criticism please :)

I've always wanted to learn to use powerpoint. I think it scared me. :) Thanks for the tutorial. This creativity thing is hard for me. I'm not much of an artist....mine will be pretty simple, but colorful.

I can see how students can get excited about Synthesis, if they were able to access the information. There are so many ways that they can show what they have learned besides writing a report. I think the majority of my students, feel more comfortable doing creative displays of knowledge and feel very uncomfortable with writing. Powerpoint is a good way for them to display their knowledge and tap into their strengths.

I didn't get a chance to try the Bubbl site but I did create an account and will try it this week. I hope to use it with most of my kids. We usually use paper webs but I think they will love this.

Can you believe that I never tried Powerpoint before tonight? Very cool. I will share the idea of using it with note taking. I love the steps that you created for the kids (and me). Our students don't know how to cite and I'm hoping that this will motivate them to take notes and cite their sources. Also, I wish the citation sites were there when I was in college/high school.

I really learned a lot today. Do I say that every day. I really haven't explored all that Word has to offer. I knew about the highlighting piece but I love the box for notes. I can't wait to try the Bubbl site. I too think Inspiration is confusing and so do the kids.
I guess I never knew how bad I was at searching for information on the web. :) I'm using the techniques you are teaching regularly. Today, I taught a student how to identify the validity of a web site and if it actually gave him the information he was looking for. I am really enjoying this class.

Wiki is such a wonderful tool. I love how you can see who did what work. You are right...I hate that when you group students, there is always one that does the most or most of the work.

I have learned so much on how to search for information. Thanks for the tips.
